Rainbow High Littles – Opal Raine, Rainbow 5.5" Posable Small Doll with Purse, Magical Pet Unicorn, Girls Toy Gift, Kids Ages 4-12 Years

From: Rainbow High

Pete's Expert Summary

My human seems to have acquired yet another small plastic idol for her collection. This one is called Opal Raine, a "Little Sister" doll from the Rainbow High dynasty, which apparently also has a corresponding moving picture show that I'm forced to ignore while napping. It's a diminutive figure with an alarming explosion of synthetic rainbow hair and a tiny, vacant stare. She comes with an even tinier plastic unicorn, which I suppose is meant to be her "pet." Frankly, the entire ensemble looks rather un-chewable and far too rigid for a proper pounce. The only items of remote interest are the unicorn's horn, which might be suitable for batting under the sofa, and the doll's purse, which could potentially hold a single, very valuable kibble. The rest seems like a monumental waste of shelf space that could be better utilized for my afternoon sunbathing.

A Tale from Pete the Cat

The artifact arrived in a clear prison, which the human dismantled with gleeful cries. She set the two figures on the low table in the sunroom: the rainbow-haired homunculus and its horned, white accomplice. She called them "Opal" and her "magical pet." Then, as she always does, she was distracted by the glowing rectangle in her pocket and left the room, abandoning her new treasures. This was my moment. I dropped from my perch on the armchair, landing with the practiced silence of a seasoned operative. The mission: assess the new arrivals. My investigation began with the primary subject, Opal. She stood a mere paw-and-a-half high, her rainbow dress a garish affront to my sophisticated gray-and-white sensibilities. I nudged her with my nose. She toppled over with a pathetic clatter, her articulated limbs akimbo. Her purse, a tiny plastic cube, skittered away. I sniffed it. Empty. Useless. Her hair, a cascade of synthetic colors, felt rough against my tongue. I gave one of the three buns a tentative tug with my teeth. It was disappointingly resilient. This one was all style, no substance. A decoy. My attention turned to the accomplice. The so-called "magical pet unicorn." It was smaller, smoother, and possessed a single, intriguing protuberance on its head. I circled it slowly, my tail giving a thoughtful twitch. Was this the source of its "magic"? I extended a single claw and gently *tinked* it against the horn. A satisfying, high-pitched sound. I batted it. It slid beautifully across the polished wood floor, its rainbow mane a blur of motion. It spun, it glided, it ricocheted off a table leg with a delightful *thwack*. Aha. The unicorn wasn't the doll's pet; the doll was merely its chaperone. This smooth, horned projectile was the true prize. My verdict was clear: the doll could remain as a silent, judgmental ornament, but the unicorn had just been recruited for the midnight floor hockey league. It was worthy.
