Real heroesRescue Heroes teach our kids about helping others, rescuing without the need to fight. They fight natural disasters and teach kids about safety. The toys are durable, well made and the accessories are endless! These heroes include girl rescue heroes too!

Rescue HeroTo date we have about 42 Rescue Hero figures and every accessory that we are aware of. My son who is now four and his friends play for hours with this stuff. He can't get enough of it (obvious with the duplicates that we have). This stuff is durable and there is a lot of interaction going on. He plays with a group or sits there alone for hours. The Aquatic Command Centre gets lots of play. The police car and fire truck ditto. The only piece my son doesn't play much with is the Dune Buggy. For the [money] we paid for it wasn't such a good buy. But I have no compliants about the rest. My son's only compliant is that we have yet to be able to find an Ariel Flyer figure.

The best toys ever made!!!The Rescue Heros collection is the greatest. Our kids (7 & 3) play with them for hours on end. We began buying them 3 years ago and now have well over half of the collection. We have yet to break any piece, which is pretty amazing for 2 active boys. What a value! The boys can't wait for Santa to leave a new Rescue Hero under the tree.

Thomas & Friends Duncan the Engine
Made by Learning Curve
Age Group: 24 months - 6 years
Amazon base price: $9.99
Duncan is a plain-vanilla type of train engine. He once worked in a factory and has a straightforward way of speaking. That, combined with his affection for rock & roll, has potential to get him into trouble. This simple yellow-and-black 3-inch wood engine brings to mind the proverbial worker bee. Based on the popular Thomas the Tank Engine series by Reverend W. Awdry and the PBS television show Shining Time Station, the wooden railway system is compatible with other magnetic train sets. You can reenact all the exciting stories in the series or make up new ones. Thomas fans won't want to miss out on any of these fun, well-built railway characters. --Emilie Coulter

A Great BuyDuncan is one of the little engines but his train shows him just as big as Thomas or Percy. These are great for little kids becasue you pull the trains by yourself without the use of any batteries. Great but I wish these weren't so expensive.

the only toy played by my toddler for everI can only say the thomas tank engine series is the only one my toddler plays for ever and again and again for the last few years, and for the future year as well, I believe. It worths the expensive money.

THOMAS & FRIENDS ARE GREAT!Like the other reviews I have written, we feel that ALL of the Thomas & Friends toys (engines, cars, track & accessories) are excellent. Yes, you can find cheaper items as Thomas things can get a little pricey, but it last and last. I hope to pass my boys stuff onto their children. The Thomas story line is pure. No junk going into our little ones heads from Thomas and NO BATTERIES REQUIRED! No lights, annoying sounds or running the batteries down. We LOVE Thomas in our home.

Cool but I only wanted the construction carsWhat I meant by my title is that I already had Rusty and I just wanted the Construction Cars. The cars sway from side to side and they can survive a lot of damage. I was suprised at how durable these were. The sets are a lot of fun because you don't need any additional things to go with it for immediate fun. These toys are really good for a car trip to keep a child busy when they are bored. I would higly recommend getting this set but don't buy Rusty first.

Rusty & Construction Cars!!The Thomas & Friends wooden railroad gives you Rusty and 2 Construction Cars. This set provides hours of fun for your children because they can use this set to recreate stories about Rusty and his construction fun. Its educational value shows children how man-made things are built and they will probably use this set with thier Lincoln Logs and other construction kits. This is also a very sturdy set, but sometimes the mixer's top will come off and will need a frequent fix-up! Other than that, it's a wonderful set and a great gift idea!

Tonka Lights and Sound Tow Truck
Made by Funrise
Age Group: 4 - 7 years
Amazon base price: $14.99
Always ready to help out stranded drivers in the playroom or on the back patio, this Lights and Sound Tow Truck is a good vehicle to add to your car and truck collection. An all-plastic, hand-powered replica of a real roadside service vehicle, this 13-inch truck is equipped with a working winch and four different light and sound effects, including two horn sounds, a rumbling motor, and the sound of the truck's towing winch being cranked in. All four sound effects are accompanied by flashing emergency and front headlights, and you can activate the truck's winch sound by hooking a car, or simply tuck up the towing winch and reeling the car in by hand. The tow truck is powered by two AA batteries (included). --Chris Burns

My 2 year old LOVES this toy!Last Christmas I brought this toy for my 2 year old son and he LOVES it! The lights and sounds give him the real feeling of being the driver of the truck. He's had this toy for 11 months now and so far nothing has broken and the paint has not chipped. It still looks like new. I am so impressed that I am also going to buy him the lights and sound fire engine. This toy was well worth the money!

Grandson LOVES This ToyWhile my almost-3-year-old grandson and I were opening the box, Jacob was already looking for the buttons to press on this tow truck. He loves the sounds! Then I explained to him the tow truck's job -- to help cars that can't "go" anymore. This truck will take the broken-down car to a garage to get fixed. So, we found a little car he hooked onto the tow truck. Right now, he's learning how to work the winch. And, the lights on this toy are VERY impressive! I told him this truck is not afraid of the dark. It has to help people all day and all night long. Last, but not least, we put M&M candy in the "secret compartment" in case SOMEONE got hungry while on the job. Great toy! Loads of fun! Well made, very colorful, not too heavy.

Tractors and dozers and backhoes, oh, my! Nothing beats a big dirt quarry with a whole slough of dirt-pushing, gravel-hauling trucks. This magnetic play set provides a 13-3/4-by-18-inch folding construction site backdrop, against which 14 magnetic pieces can be arranged. Create endless combinations of scenes with a wide variety of vehicles and construction materials. Piles of dirt and rocks can be strategically placed, allowing the dump truck to come cart them away, or the bulldozer to push them to a more useful area. Perfect for taking everywhere. Kids will have hours of constructive, imaginative fun with these permanently magnetic pieces. --Emilie Coulter

Replenish stock on magnetic playsets - create a sceneI purchased @ least 5 different titles of the magnetic playsets - create a scene playsets. Each one has given my children hours of imaginative and creative enjoyment. Without a doubt many of them are thematic in nature with pleasant graphic content. [...]
Busy hands, happy handsThis playboard is a great play-value-for-money purchase. I bought this for our son when he was 18 months old, to use on a long plane journey and subsequent vacation. He loved it, and it continues to be one of his favorite playthings. It fits well on an airplane tray and comes in handy in restaurants to keep a busy little hands happily occupied. My son also uses it as a playmat and mixes his diecast vehicles in with the magnetic ones. The magnets aren't overly strong, so do be forewarned that with a young toddler, pieces occaisionally slip off the board...this is only a concern in an airplane/restaurant, where you might leave one piece behind.
A Favorite ToyI gave this toy to my son when he was just over 2- years-old and he hasn't stopped playing with it since. It's compact and portable, great for car trips, and one thing I really love is that all the pieces stay together because they are magnetic. It has the same appeal as stickers, but with more versatility because the trucks and equipment can be easily moved and manipulated on the background board. I would say this toy has given us the best play value for the money. The only problem we've encountered is the excavator has a long slender arm that I keep having to reinforce with tape to keep it together. Other than that, the pieces are stong, durable and colorful. I think this is a great toy and allows kids to use their imagination.

excellentI also have the santa fe train and the additional track. I have a one year old and a three year old and both of them are able to ride it on their own. They love it. And it's pretty easy to set up and take down.

Fun and More FunMy Granddaughter and her friends loved this toy. They only problem was not enough tracks. It would have been more fun to go a greater distance.
Santa Fe Train & Figure 8 Conversion TrackAwesome toy for my 2+ year old. I wish I was light enough to ride this thing. Gave it to him as a Christmas gift. He loves it. It took me a while to configure the figure 8, but other than that, it was a cinch to set up. Highly recommend the Santa Fe Train, as well as the track add on. Train is not flimsy. Made of good quality plastic. Best set up on harder surfaces. All in all, it's a great toy.

Dumpety is great for kids, but loud for parentsMy son loves this toy, however it is loud. But don't let that be a deterant for you. It's really cute. A word of advice though...the boulders are small enough to be put into little one's mouth's and they look a bit like a Dunkin' Donut munchkin. So as a parent who's been there, keep an eye on those boulders!! But overall my son who's going to be 2 has enjoyed this toy since December. And it's the first one out of the toybox!

GET IT CHEAPERI bought this for half the cost shown here, at Big Lots. Little People, like most Fisher-Price toys, are fun, fun, fun, and extremely durable for the younger players.

The Best!We bought this as a last minute purchase for my son's first birthday. Because of the price, we just couldn't pass it up. We also bought the cement mixer at the same time. My son just loves them both! He cannot walk into his playroom without playing with the boulders and pushing the trucks. Everything has a "place to be put away", but these trucks sit on the playtable because of how often they are used. It took him about 2 weeks before he could figure out how to put the boulders where they belong, but as soon as he did, he began clapping. He looked so proud, and it was truly a great moment for us as parents to see his accomplishment! Now he is a pro! If you are looking for something cheap and durable, this is a great purchase for a little boy!

Major Powers & The Star Squad: Star Squad Adventure Boat with Captain Deepdive Decker

Captain Deepdive Decker is dressed in a deep blue suit and has the typical oversized feet and hands common to all the Rescue Heroes. He's got a scuba mask (which we found a little hard to get on his head) attached so it won't get lost. He's also wearing a "Power Link Gauntlet" on his glove. The gauntlet has a Star Squad hologram on the outside and a magnet on the inside. When the gauntlet is applied to a knob on the boat, the "radar bar" (which looks kind of like a spoiler on the back) with the anchor on it is raised. The anchor shoots out of a launcher, but it's rope isn't that long, so it doesn't go too far. The realistically styled boat has a jet ski-like control panel that moves up and down, and it really floats in water! --Megan Sullivan

My 2 Year Old Loves ItMy son loves this toy. He didn't have any action figures and I got this since it was on clearance. He loves it. The big hands and feet make it easy for him to make stand up. We have ended up leaving this toy in the bathroom since my son loves playing with it in the tub. The boat does float very well. If there is anything negative to say about it, it's that the driving piece on the front of the boat comes off somewhat easily but it also snaps right back on easily so that really hasn't been a problem.

My 3yr old Love It!As soon as my 3yr old opened it he just wanted to play with it. There are no small parts that would worry a parent at this age. IT FLOATS! My son stays in the bath longer and you just dry it off and it's good to go.

It floats! This is a really great toy for a boy or girl who likes vehicles. The great thing is that it actually floats in the bathtub! I got this toy on clearance and I was surprised that they have discontinued this line. I like the fact that this is not a "war" toy but rather a hero toy.

Thomas & Friends Mavis the Engine
Made by Learning Curve
Age Group: 24 months - 6 years
Amazon base price: $9.99
Assigned to the Farquhar Quarry Co., Ltd., Mavis is one of the hardest-working engines on the Thomas Wooden Railway System. Still, by her smile and bright eyes, we can tell that this six-wheeled, 3.25-inch-long worker bears her burdens cheerfully. Made of sturdy wood and plastic, black-and-white Mavis is part of a whole creative system of train-car characters, wooden tracks, and scenery based on the popular Thomas the Tank Engine book, television, and video series. She attaches to other cars via heavy-duty magnets. Like all Thomas Wooden Railway parts, Mavis carries a lifetime warranty. --Joan DeClaire

Great fun, but shows wear earlyMy boys love Thomas and all his friends (and I like that Mavis is a lady engine but is really tough). Mavis gets played with often and in general she is, as most all of the Thomas line, durable. However, her black paint seems to chip off more easily along her edges than with the other engines - could be it just shows up more because of the color. I say it shows that she is loved when my sons ask why her paint is chipping, but you might warn your kids to be extra careful with Mavis. Otherwise, she's a lot of fun.

Mavis has changed since my dayI was just looking at my 8 year old Mavis and I relized it only has four wheels. The one in the picture has 6 wheels. Of course Salty in the picture has eight wheels and our Salty has six but that made me wonder. Because of Mavis's sideplates she doesn't run very well but my little sister loves her anyway. I wish they'd make the magnets like the take along Thomas magnets that u can connect both ways but I guess we can't have everything.

One of the few Female EnginesMavis is a diesel engine that works in the Sodor quarry. She sometimes is too independent for her own good. Mavis has sleek black paint, a cowcatcher, and buffers around her wheels. Her smiling face will be sure to brighten up your child's playtime. Choose Mavis or any of the fun Thomas products. They're great!

Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends: Sodor Bay Bridge
Made by Learning Curve
Age Group: 24 months - 6 years
Amazon base price: $29.99
Frighteningly high above a deep ravine, Thomas the Tank Engine peers over the edge, wondering how he will get to the station on time. He's saved only by the immediate construction of a bridge that gets him clickity-clacking across in no time. The Reverend W. Awdry created the Island of Sodor as a place for childhood imagination to run free with his Thomas the Tank Engine series of books. The Sodor Bay Bridge expands opportunities for dreaming and connects to any of the tracks from the Thomas Wooden Railway System. Two train trestle bridges connect to span 25 inches. Manufactured by high-quality toy maker Learning Curve, the bridge is sturdily made of wood with blue plastic supports to endure years of adventurous play. --Lynne Sampson

The Bay bridge is a mustStarting around age 2 the "World of Thomas" and his train friends became the biggest part of my son's days of play. If you are as deep into Thomas as my family is then the Sodor Bay Bridge is a must have. Hours and hours are spend pushing the toy trains over and under the bridge. Your first three starter purchases should be the trains, the tracks and then this bridge. Good Luck it is an expensive "world" your getting into!!!

I LOVED it ... and so did my nephewI ordered the bridge and then read the review that said the bridge didn't come with the ascending tracks. My trip to a local independent toy store confirmed the review. After purchasing additional tracks ... and driving 4 hours so that the tracks would make it in time for his 3rd birthday, he opened the box and I shocked to see the tracks he needed to connect the bridge to the rest of his set. I guess the manufacturer has addressed this issue....
I played with it (the bridge, figure 8 set with battery powered engine, and additional tracks) for a good hour before realizing I was enjoying it more than him! The tracks are extremely durable. My nephew and his brother and sister all loved it.
Love this, but . . .I bought this accessory for my 2-year-old son Sam, and he loves everything about it except the fact that there is not quite enough top clearance for trains to pass underneath -- You have to set the spans on blocks for that. I also agree that the set should include the ascending track, or at least a notice that it's sold separately.
