Colony Wars

A must have for any PSX sim fan!
This game is wonderful. The graphics, sound and overall presentation make it seem like you're in the thick of a galactic war. The ships fly very fluidly and the action is fast and furious. Oh yeah, in regard to the complaint another reviewer about your first ship being too slow, it's war live with it! The inferiority of your side's spacecraft is made even more obvious when you get in to battles with ships hundreds of times larger than you. You are freedom fighters after all.

    WOW
There is one simple fact that will get many people's attention, this flight sim has six endings! Aside from the sequal (Colony Wars Vengence) I have not seen such an approach to a flight based combat game. The action is fast ane the story is an epic tale of rebellion and freedom. Graphics, sound, control, all are carefully crafted. NOTE For those of you who have them, this game is analog joystick ready!

The best space-combat game for playstation
For while, it seemed like Psygnosis was unstoppable. Fresh off of the success of the awesome Wipeout games came this, one of the great console games of all time.

For starters, in the presentation and production values department this game is just plain awesome. Not ONLY does it feature some of the best graphics ever to be found on playstation, not ONLY does it feature a branching story and changes based on your successes or failures, and not ONLY does it feature some of the best menus, menu sounds, music, and in-game cinemas to be found in any game for any system ever... it also features a built-in encyclopedia of all the star systems, planets, and ships in the game complete with voice-narration!

This game offers great challenge, great gameplay, flawless presentation, tight controls, and a great storyline. The music is so good I wish there were a soundtrack.

This game is everything a great game shoud be, and fans of classic games owe it to themselves to buy this one A.S.A.P., especially if they like space-combat games.

Thomas & Friends James the Red Engine
    Made by Learning Curve
    Age Group: 24 months - 6 years
      Amazon base price: $17.99
James the Red Engine is one of the Thomas the Tank Engine series of train cars and is made of real wood. James has a cheery, smiling face on the front of the engine, promising an adventure as soon as the train leaves the station. James the Red Engine pulls his own coal car, so he won't run out of fuel. The cars attach to each other with magnets. This is a toy that encourages imaginative play and requires no batteries. Engine with attached coal car measures 5.75 inches in length. --Margaret Quinn

      Hooray for James
James does a great job pulling the coaches along the track. He can pull pretty much anything at a fast pace. I've had my Jame sfor 9 years and it looks almost new. He's a great engine and you can live the episodes with these trains.

      Grandma's Magic Accident
I purchased Thomas the engine without realizing that it was not battery operated. I gave it to my 2 year old grandson for his birthday because I had nothing else to give, and the twinkle in his eyes let me know I had hit upon a winner. The adventures for Thomas and his friends have not ended. I have since purchsed, Skarloey, Ben & Bill, Douglas, Percy, Toby and Bertie. The adventures just don't seem to end for my grandson. He plays with this toy for hours. His vocabulary has increased at the same pace as his adventures. The fact that this is not battery operated is the joy of the toy. I need not turn on the television to keep him occupied, he has Thomas and his many friends and that is good enough for me.

      Better than Thomas
Although my 3 year old loves Thomas on TV, for some reason he loves the James toy more than the Thomas one. The coal car is a big deal to him. His 18 month old brother loves it too. These toys withstand two boys playing with them better than any other I can find. I bought the tracks & engine at Christmas & they still play with it EVERY day!

Mounted on four sturdy steel wheels with real rubber tires for extra traction and a smooth ride, the Town and Country is made with a solid hardwood body and durable components. All of the wagon's metal components, including its long metal handle and swiveling ball joint, feature smooth edges to prevent injuries. The Coolest Wagon
My 2-year-old cousin got this wagon for Christmas and I was amazed at how fun it was. It is great for outdoors, and can easily go over all different types of terrain. It is safe because it is hard to tip over, even when you go over bumps. The high walls make it hard for children to fall out. It can teach your child to share because everyone will want a turn in the wagon and your child will have to learn to give other kids a chance. Also, like most other Radio Flyer wagons, it seems very durable if you take care of it properly.

        Easy to Refit
I had one of these sitting in the garage for years. The bed of the wagon (wood) had really rotted out badly, and the paint on the side panels had all but disappeared. As a sometime woodworker, I simply refitted the wagon with a better quality bed, and built new sideboards out of red cedar. And as far as the rough riding, I purchased 10 inch pneumatic tires (at a very reasonable price), and it rides much better. I guess you could say that the only thing left of the original wagon is the frame. I wouldn't pay what Radio Flyer is asking for the wagon, but I would be willing to purchase a frame only, and build my own. It looks nicer and will last much, much longer.

Not the perfect wagon, especially for the price.
I received this wagon second hand, and I'm glad I didn't spend the outrageous price charged for it. Yes, it's relatively durable (although ours literally fell apart under my 2 year old the other day. A nut holding the wagon together worked itself loose on our walk and the whole thing went to pieces. Replacing the nut fixed the problem), but it also tips easily. The handle is much too short. I've had to tie a piece of rope to the handle so that I can reach it without bending over. It is a really rough ride, and my son never looks very comfortable in it. All in all, I think I'll be passing it on and buying something else. Maybe I'm just picky, but I'd rather pay for quality, not the Radio Flyer name.

        Sports Car Hauler
        Made by Little Tikes
        Age Group: 36 months - 6 years
          Amazon base price: $19.99
Carrying a flashy red sports car on top and a yellow jeep on the bottom rack, this 17-inch-long, 7-inch-wide heavy-duty hauler is sturdy enough to withstand the rough and creative play of toddlers. The sports car and the jeep are also well made, and all the cars roll along easily. A small figure with a moveable head, arms, and legs fits in each driver's seat. These colorful vehicles are perfect for indoor or outdoor play. --Lee Strucker

Great toy for our little boy!
My son loves trucks and we purchased this one for Christmas so he could have his very own big truck. He plays with it almost daily and loves to have the man that comes with it drive all 3 vehicles. The only downside to this is that our son has a difficult time putting the guy into the track cab. There are no doors to open which I think make this a plus on the durability side but make it harder for little hands to manuever him through a window. A great bargain for the price and you get 3 working vehicles.

          great
we bought this very durable toy for our active 18 mo old about three years ago since then we have added a beautiful girl who is nearly three and they both love it.Little tikes has never disappointed and this item is no different it is even strong enough for them to ride on and they do all over the house

          Parents of a truck lover
We bought this for our 2 yr old son because a friend had an older version of this toy that he loved. The older version was larger and the semi truck could disconnect from the trailer. My son didn't like this toy as well since it was connected and a smaller version. He played with it until we were given the older version. He still plays with the cars that came with it. We sent the truck to his grandparents house were it hopefully gets more play time when he visits.

Thomas the Tank Engine - Harold the Helicopter
          Made by Learning Curve
          Age Group: 24 months - 6 years
            Amazon base price: $9.99
Kindhearted but noisy, Harold the Helicopter likes to drop in on the Island of Sodor to visit his railway friends. This 4-inch sturdy wood helicopter is white with a sleek red racing stripe above his name. With a rotating propeller and plastic landing pontoons, Harold is ready for action. Based on the popular Thomas the Tank Engine series by Reverend W. Awdry and the PBS television show Shining Time Station, this flying fellow is part of the much-loved wooden railway system, which is compatible with other magnetic train sets. You can reenact all the exciting stories in the series or make up new ones. Thomas fans won't want to miss out on any of these fun, well-built railway characters. --Emilie Coulter

Lots of fun, but easily broken
My 3 year old son did chores around the house to buy this toy himself. We were very disappointed when one of the rotors broke off within a month. I was with him when it broke. He was not doing anything rough with it. He didn't even drop it. We did not realize there was a guarantee. We've glued it back together at least 10 times. I don't know if that voids the guarantee or not.

Otherwise, it is a great toy. My son carries it all over the place. He says it is his favorite.

I guess the older propellers work better
I've noticed a bunch of complaints regarding the proplellers on Harold the Helicopter. My Harold is over eight years old and it still has his propellers in fine working order. My problem with Harold is the fact that there's not much to do with him. The new hospital track gives him a place to land but he gets boring quickly. Still a good buy though.

            love it!
My son has this toy. He loves it. The plastic rotors keep breaking off,(we are on our 3rd Harold and have to get a 4th now.) I have had a hard time trying to find out who to contact for replacement now that the company has switched hands.

Range of this Truck is Horrendous
I happened to see this while in Toys R' Us on a big clearance display. Wow. Now priced at $14.99, down from $39.99. What a deal I thought. Picked one up for my 2 1/2 year old son.

I get home, take it out of the box, and install brand new batteries. My son is all excited over it. I first notice that ir will not go in reverse when I press the reverse button. Then I hit forward and it goes for a few feet and stops even though my finger is still on the foward burron. Not only that, but maintaining a consistent turn is impossible because the turn signal from the remote apparently gets interrupted as well and the wheels will staighten out.

Apparently the radio signal from the remote is either very weak or the truck itself causes interference on it's end. Whatever the problem, the truck will just stop and not respond. You have to get about 3 feet from it to work again. Once it goes more that 6 feet away, same thing, it stops. Some times even less than 6 feet. It is very frustratin for my son because it SHOULD work but doesn't. Tonka claims a 20 feet range. This is not true at all.

Well, then I came on amazon and read these reviews and found others having the same problem. I returned it to Toys R Us today and exchanged it for a new one, same model, and guess what? The new one has the same exact problem.

(...). I am very disappointed in Tonka for allowing a shoddy product to hit the market like this. I am not surprised that it is now clearanced. I wouldn't be surprised to see a new model released by Tonka soon which will have none of these flaws. Too bad for those of us who bought this model.

              FUN FUN FUN
My 2 boys 5 and 2 love these trucks and they go through the grass and on the driveway very well. They have been dropped many times and keep on going. Thanks for a GREAT product!

              Loads of Fun
I got this for my 2 yr old son for an upcoming trip. He loves construction stuff and went nuts when he saw it. So far it has been very durable. My son pushes the truck around and lifts the bed up and down by hand a lot (vs using the remote) and I was afraid it would break the motor. What I really like about it is that when the bed is either all the way up or down, it repeatedly clicks loudly to let you know it's done and to stop pushing the button. Also, when the wheel on the remote for turning is released, the wheels on the truck automatically return to a straight position. We've had no problems with the antenna working so far. It runs great on our carpet, and in power mode actually crawled over a vacuum handle that was on the floor. Overall it's a great product for the construciton lovers out there!

Bruder 24" Mercedes Benz Green Garbage Truck
Made by Bruder Toys America Inc.
              Age Group: 36 months - 7 years
              • Plastic frame, 6 wheels
              • 2 trash bins
              • Movable parts
              Amazon base price: $59.99
For many toddlers and preschool-age children a highlight of the week can be watching the garbage truck stop in front of the house and lift the bins high into the air in all their noisy power and glory. This big, bright green-and-yellow garbage truck from Bruder Toys will provide hours of creative and imaginative play. The six-wheeled plastic truck measures approximately 2 feet long, 6 inches wide, and 10 inches tall. The truck comes with two small, realistic bins in yellow and blue. The two bins hook on to the tailgate, which lifts with a lever. Other turning knobs dump the trash and compact it. This toy could be used as a recycling truck given the recycling symbol on the side, which makes it a great educational toy to introduce environmental consciousness. Extra bins and a larger Dumpster may be purchased separately. --Lair Showalter, mother and elementary school teacher

BRUDER 24' MERCEDES BENZ GREEN GARBAGE TRUCK
I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK FOR MYSELF! EVER SINCE I WAS A CHILD, I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED A GARBAGE TRUCK THAT ACTUALLY WORKED LIKE A REAL LIFE GARBAGE TRUCK, THIS TRUCK DEFINELTY DOES!! IT IS VERY DETAILED AND EASY TO OPERATE. IT ACTUALLY COMPACTS AND EMPTIES! IT'S REALLY COOL! NOW THE BAD PART, IF YOU ARE PURCHASING THIS TRUCK FOR A YOUNG CHILD IT ISN'T AS DURABLE AS A TONKA TRUCK AND MIGHT NOT LAST AS LONG! OTHER THAN THAT, IT IS A GREAT TRUCK ESP. IF YOU GREW UP LIKING GARBAGE TRUCKS!

Looks great, but I wonder about quality
Wow! We just opened the box to our Bruder Garbage Truck. It looks great, like the kind of toy I wish I had as a child. Yes, the price is high, and yes, I am concerned that the plastic may not hold up to any rough play. However, with the continual decline of Nylint and Tonka, it is getting harder and harder to get quality trucks for little boys (and adults!). On that front, I am glad that Bruder offers these detailed vehicles. Also, I am glad to find a toy truck that doesn't have battery powered annoying lights and sounds. Like I said, it is getting more difficult each Christmas season to find a quality toy truck.........

                Colony Wars Vengeance
Its a fun game. But it gets boring, still it has lots of action and adventure.

                Must have , love, hate:
This game is getting old now, I have to speak for the game because I bought it twice, once back in the day when it came out and again in 2004 for a lack of a good space shooter on the PS2. To this day the graphics hold up well and the gameplay factor is what brings you back for more. Missions range from escort to defend the base to take out the enemy base or fighters. The gameplay is hard, I mean really hard. (for easy play pick up colony wars 3). The missions are setup in fork fashion, loose a mission it changes the outcome, and completion path of the game. If you liked tie fighter or x-wing games from back in the day and you arn't to spoiled with modern graphics give this game a try.

                indeed
This game is awesome, a great sequel and a classic PS one game. I recommend this game to all fans of videogames.

                Star Trek: Invasion
                Made by Activision
Age Group: 5 years and up

While Star Trek: Invasion never quite reaches the lofty heights of the Colony Wars games, it's still worth a look even if you're not a green-blooded trekker.

Set in the time line of the Next Generation TV and film series, Invasion has you cast in the role of a fighter pilot destined for a big part in the upcoming war against the Earth-bound Borg. The Borg is not the only Trek race to show up in here; the Cardassians, Klingons, and Bajorans are all along, too. Speaking of the Trek gang, actors Michael Dorn as Worf and Patrick Stewart as Captain Picard contribute good voice acting to an all-around solid production.

The visuals in Invasion are uniformly sharp and show an attention to detail that almost makes the old PlayStation beg for mercy. The planets, the ships, the explosions (especially the explosions!) are topnotch. The music, however, is painfully repetitive. Disturbingly, the controls in Invasion are way too sensitive for all but the most die-hard space jockeys. The Valkyrie space fighters often make too wide a turn, resulting in constant misfires and untimely deaths.

Perhaps because it is set in the more politically correct universe of Star Trek, Invasion does lack the Colony Wars games' level of intense, gritty combat, and its story isn't nearly as engaging. Yet, for a laser blast-filled journey into the final frontier, it's still a fun ride. --Mark Brooks

                  Pros:

                  • Lovely graphics push the PlayStation to its limits
                  • Excellent voice acting all around
                  • Easy to get into
                  Cons:
                  • Awkward controls
                  • Light story line doesn't compete with standout games in this genre
                  • Too few missions
                  Average review score:

                  RESISTANCE IS FUTILE
If you are a Trekkie or just a casual fan you will love this game. It is hard to get used to the controls (I'm used to Colony Wars)and the missions can be very hard but they are NOT impossible. As with most of the best games on the market this one is difficult and will take time to complete all the missions. You will have to have some dedication (like all 3 Colony Wars or any Tomb Raider game) to complete the game. But, if you liked Star Trek TNG you will love it when you attack the Borg and hear "Resistance is Futile, you will be Assimulated". The special effects, mission line, and voice and music score is very good. It is hard to make a PS1 game as good as a PC game. But, I think Activision did a really good job!

                  Warp Factor 9
As a Star Trek fan I will admit a certain amount of bias in writing a review of this game but I can honestly say it was well worth the wait! I have been waiting for a long time for Playstation to market a Star Trek fighter game and I am very satisfied with Invasion. Manuverability and the realistic detail to ships and hazards are outstanding. Plus the cameos of Patrick Stewart and Michael Dorn (Capt. Picard and Commander Worf) were excellent additions to this game. All of the enimies proved challanging and versitile. I would definetly give this game 4 1/2-5 stars.

                  Excellent Star Trek Game!
They usually make Star Trek games for computers, I'm glad they made this one for PS1. It's a great fighter pilot type game.

There will come a day when kids just won't believe that we had to wind up our toy airplane propellers with rubber bands. Hastening the arrival of that fateful milestone are the E-Chargers Flying Machines. This flying machine draws its power from four AA batteries in a handheld charger. Just pop the 8-inch-long foam plane on the end of the charger, listen to its motor rev and watch its propeller spin, then 10 seconds later you're ready to fly. You can get some really good flights out of this bird--the only downside is waiting the recommended two minutes between flights for the charger to cool down. Styles and colors may vary. --Paul Hughes

I bought this for my nephew, and never got to even fly it! I loaded the batteries, connected the charger, and that was it---the charger would not charge nor come off---D* near broke it in half trying! Can't wait to return that trash.

                    Sweet little flyer
Bought this for my son who has ADHD. He loves the little plane. It works great! I know it won't last long since it is is foam rubber and my son is not gentle but for the money, it was something to try. Now I know he enjoys flying planes and can handle it. I recommend this toy for other parents to try on their children, as a first time plane.

                    cool flight patterns
This little plane does some real cool tricks all on its own. by throwing it down toward the ground, it then takes straight up and does a hammerhead stall before it glides back to earth. The one problem I have run into is the durability. I have gone through two palnes and haven't really played with it much. The propeller broke on the first one and on the second, the gears seemed to have stripped.
