9.6 V Rechargeable Turbo Battery Pack and Charger
Made by Tyco RC
    Amazon base price: $19.99
    List price: $34.99 (that's 43% off!)
Every aficionado of radio-controlled vehicles knows how expensive perpetually replacing disposable batteries can be. There is a better way. Tyco's Turbo Premium ni-cad Battery Pack and Charger for 9.6-volt R/C vehicles allows up to 1,000 charges on a single pack. Charging takes just 4 hours from a standard 110/120-volt outlet. Tyco backs their claim that the Turbo 9.6-volt battery pack is the longest running R/C battery available with an impressive 120-day, limited guarantee. --Jerry McCulley

    GREAT BATTERY
The design of Tyco's battery pack and charger is very nice and simple to operate. I like the idea of having a rechargable battery for toys since it is so expensive replacing regular batteries constantly. This battery was part of my child's Christmas along with the Vertigo radio controlled car (which I HIGHLY recommend). I charged it the recommended time and it was very easy to install into the car and off we went. It lasted as long as the standard rechargeable battery that was in my other son's remote control car (they both ran down at the exact same time). Anyhow, the kids had plenty of time to play with their cars and were ready to come in by the time the batteries ran down so I'd say I have no complaints and think that it is worth the money of buying the battery in order to get one of Tyco's SUPER cool cars!!!!

      compact fun!
My son, age 4 received the stuntster for his birthday and loves it! The fast recharge, 3 minutes, is a great assett and the controls are easy to get the hang of. When it hits the wall, it flips over to reveal a different color. Very durable.
I am buying 2 more for my nephews!

            AWSOME!!!!!!!
This is the best tyco boat i have ever had. It goes a fast speed and has good steering. i have two of these boats a 27 MHZ and a 49 MHZ They both run fine. i dirve them on big lakes usally and they run over the wave like its a sinch!!! only thing is make sure you clean the engine out before winter and after winter to make sure its runnning fine. :)

            remote sucks on this thing
within a week of buying this, the transmitter stopped working, and i was unable to fix it. cheap construction makes it not very durable at all. i'd recommend spending a bit more and buying a quality setup, as this one will only disappoint.

            An awesome boat!!!
i got this boat with my birthday money and i love it. i would only recommend it if you have other full function remotes of the same frequency because my renote broke. but this boat rocks! itll take on waves 3x its size and it is fast!!! so if you have another rc(s) this is a awesome boat :7

              Much Better than RC Revenge!
I played RC Re-Volt for the PC, and was *very* impressed with the great graphics, varied gameplay modes, and awesome music. Thinking that its PlayStation sequel, RC Revenge, would be just as good, I got it - and was disappointed. What I should've bought instead was Tyco RC Assault. The car and level graphics are some of the best I've seen on the PlayStation. The cars themselves are incredibly fun, and their ability to do the special transformations (one of them transforms to twice its width, while another pulls out a giant spinning drill) is a really fun gameplay twist. In addition to the excellent single player mode, the two player deathmatches are pretty fun. Tyco RC Assault has so much stuff to unlock, you'll be playing for weeks. This game is definitely a lot of fun, and one of the best kart-style racers on the PSX.

              This game is a keeper!
I bought this game last month, and I can't stop playing. The fact that there are two different experience modes to race with (6Volt and 9Volt) is a great feature for both the traditional gamer as well as the novice beginner. Using actual Tyco R/C cars was another nice touch. I can go to Toys R Us and see the R/C cars that I raced with. There's lots of cars and tracks, and you can race the tracks backwards! The computer controlled cars race like a human player. You never know what they are going to do! And having different play-modes like Battle Mode and the Soccer! What a great idea. My friends and I love to battle each other.

The only problem I had with it is that while playing Two Player in Challenge mode, the game would slow down a little at certain points, when lots of stuff was going on onscreen.

I would recommend this game to my friends.

This car is very durable. Its pretty fun because the 4 double aa's last the car for about 20 minutes.

Yes it flies, yes it's durable: IF you read the instructions
I bought this product yesterday brand new in TKMaxx and built it last night.

The thing is, I know a little bit about conditioning batteries and electric motors as I fly an Ikarus Piccolo - an electric model helicopter (and I'll compare this toy to that at the end)

The first thing I did was squirt WD40 over the gears and into the electric motor and then ran it for a few seconds. It doesn't say to do this in the instructions, but I did it anyway.

Next: I conditioned the batteries. IT SAYS TO DO THIS IN THE INSTRUCTIONS. If this isn't done, then the toy will not fly.

I charged it up, and drained the batteries as follows:
Note well: as has been said in another post: the toy will auto-cutoff (criticism to Tyco - it didn't explain this in the "conditioning batteries" part of the manual, or at least not in the version I've got). I did the following:
                  - Charge toy as per manual
                  - Turn toy on
                  - Turn transmitter on
                  - Operate toy as it says in "Conditioning battery" section (ie power it up but don't lift off !!)
                  - Wait until the engine stops. Note Well: This most probably isn't the battery being drained, but the auto-cutoff feature. This isn't explained in the version of the instructions that I've received (Tyco - take notice!!) Therefore:
                  - Turn transmitter off
                  - Turn toy off
                  - Count to 3
                  - Turn toy on
                  - Turn transmitter on
                  - Operate toy again until cut off again
                  - repeat as often as necessary until you know the batteries are worn down (the rotor blade will struggle to turn, even though you can hear the magnetic hum of the motor)

I did this a couple of times last night. I took my toy out for the first time today and it flew !!

OK - now onto "It's not durable":

Today was a **windy** day - so I launched it by hand after throwing some grass into the air so I knew where the toy was going to go ("downwind"). (Kids and adults: I'm 36, I'm allowed to be stupid enough to ignore the instructions and launch it by hand if I want to, and I've experience of being hit by model helicopter blades so I know to be very careful. The instructions say to stay well away from the blades for a very good reason - because they can cause injury)

NOTE WELL: Read and understand the shut-off feature of the remote control: Being a model helicopter flyer, I know very well that if you have the time to realise the helicopter's main blades are going to strike the ground, then shut off the engine otherwise the helicopter (and XFO!!!) will beat itself to death.
To shut off the XFO, pull the joystick towards you.

Just so you know about this stop feature: When you turn the transmitter on (do it with the toy still off): note the brightness of the LED above the joystick glows brighter when you push the joystick up. This indicates it's transmitting a signal.

Now pull the joystick back beyond the bottom position - and you'll see the red LED glow brighter again - it's transmitting the "Engine stop" signal - this is the "Stop" position.

So, I would launch it, gust of wind catches it, Uh Oh! About to strike the ground, and pull back on the stick, thus shutting off the motor. The blades will strike the ground and fold back as designed. No problem!!

When I did launch it and it started to drift downwind - just before it was about to land I pushed up on the stick to arrest the rate of decent, then as it was about to touch down (I knew it was going to trip over as it had too much sideways speed) I again shut it down. Toppled over, blades folded back, nothing broken.

As it says on the box: easy to learn, challenging to master.

Back to the Piccolo comparison: I was impressed with the XFO's engine! eg even down to the cooling fan on the engine's drive shaft. I looked at the toy and thought, "They could quite easily add servos, swashplate and tail rotor to this thing..." - the Piccolo retails about £350 - i bought my XFO for £20 (and it retails for £59.99 so still very good value). The blades' leading edges and tips are rubber which means they'll survive an impact well - the Piccolo's aren't (in fact, I know of no model helicopter that has this feature). And the rotor head pops on to the main shaft in the same way as a Piccolo's head pops onto the main shaft.

How much fun: reduced from 5 stars to 4 because it's a pity it doesn't have some directional control.

Educational: 5 stars, because a) it introduces someone to helicopter-style flying, and b) the joystick is like the vertical axis control of a model helicopter's radio control

Durable: 5 stars: just learn the engine shut-off feature and use it ! I flew it in wind today, and had (7 or 8?) several blade strikes with the ground - and it's not broken at all.

Well - hope my ramblings help someone.

                  xfo
I thought this was a very fun toy! I only fly it in the house, but it is still very fun. I only flew it outside once and it crashed. I think it is very durable because I have crashed it many times and it hasn't even scratched. My only dissapointment was that you cant have any wind when flying. I have gotten it over 20-30 feet so I love this toy!!!!!

                  What a dissapointment!
the product doesn't work as advertised, foam construction is not a good use of building material for a "childs" toy...it doesn't hold up to their playing, you would be lucky to have the XFO fly more than a foot off the ground, there are no directional controls except for up and and down so it may decide to propel at any direction, for the $60 I paid for this before x-mas I would say I was ripped off as well as my child of 9yrs of age

this toy broke down within a few days we changed the battery and it still didn't wrk right once it started going you couldn't stop or it would stop going

Wish it ran better over rough terrain
Although it can't run over grass and is prone to flipping, this toy is still a good deal for your money. Usually I just run it inside the family room so I do not need rouph terrain features. It is a great toy to learn how to drive rc's on, as it is extremely durable. Since I am new to rc's, I have crashed it into almost everything in the house and it still works great. If you just want a cheap RC to run around the house, this would be a great buy.

Pay a little more, get a little more
                    Not satisfied with the performance.

With the knobby tires I thought it would be good for almost any surface, but was proven wrong. Unless you use this on concrete, hard dirt, or a tabletop, it will just sit there groaning, "Hey, Stupid, I can't drive on grass!"

So, pay a little more, get a little more. You can never go wrong with that approach.

                      This Toy Rocks
When This toy came out of it's box, I was amazed at the stunts it could do. You could launch it off a counter and it would not break, just like the original Hot Rocker. Sure it had to charge once every five minutes (like all mini R/Cs) but it was wearth it considering how fast it could charge and how fast it could go. A must buy (but personaly I prefer the Rebound).

                      misleading
Don't waste your money on this. The commercials and ads fail to tell you that the car only runs 2 minutes (per the instructions)per charge. My 4 year old lost interest in 10 minutes after having to keep recharging it. (5 times!)
