Building Set Reviews

I bought this Duplo set for my son's second birthday. He loves it--it was easily his favorite birthday gift. I like it because it keeps him busy for a long time. My big disappointment was the packaging the toy arrived in. It was packaged in a plain brown cardboard box. Presentation means so much when giving gifts to kids, and I felt that the way this product was packaged (like some boring piece of junk) dampened my son's initial excitement upon opening this gift. If toysrus.com has cut special deals with some toy manufacturers to accept cheap packaging for lower prices or access to hard-to-obtain products, they should at least be up front about it with the consumer. My experience with this product's packaging makes me reluctant to order from toysrus.com again for gift purchases.

Star Wars mini vehicles allow users to create vast scenes from the movies without spending thousands of dollars. Each new model has at least one special piece so that you won't be able to duplicate it exactly by using other pieces in your collection.

The Republic Gunship is pretty true to the original (although I don't know if the rocking wings are accurate). The finished model is a good size for playing with.

The directions are standard Lego format and are easy to follow. The final construction is solid and believable. The set includes extra parts for making part of a Y-Wing (the rest of the parts are available with the AT-At, Millennium Falcon, and the Multi-Troop Transport).

All in all, very nicely done.

Every adult and child who has ever built with Lego and those who will ever build with Lego need wheels. When children, or those acting like children, gather around a huge pile of Lego the first thing that the start reaching for are wheels.

The more wheels on the contraption the happier they are, so just plan to get a BUNCH and then everyone can make things that roll, go and otherwise WORK and you won't have any fights on your hands about "s/he got all the wheels!!"

Great way for my 5 year old daughter to use her imagination ~ from building different things to the dramatic play once she has everything set up! She loves it!!

I recently bought 2 sets of these blocks. They are terrific. I like the bright colors. The quality is without flaws. The set includes just under 300 of the smallest size (2 prong), but I think that there is still plenty of the other sizes to make all kinds of creative building projects. I read a review of a lego set where the reviewer complained that there was almost half of only the smallest (1 prong) size so perhaps this is more the norm than not. I have a similar box of Mega blocks in a larger size and they have been a big hit with both my boys who are now 3 & 4. I felt that it was time to move up to the smaller size blocks so I got these sets. If you are looking for wood blocks, I got the "Standard Unit Blocks" here on Amazon and I think they are outstanding in value and quality!!! Check them out!

The kids love playmobil - this set has all sorts of things to start a small farm-animals, people, landscapes and more. - Well made and hold together so nicely, not frustrating for little hands. Worth the cost and more.

Although the blacksmith is "Knight Age", it can be nicely mixed with other worlds like the new viking collection. A good strarting set.

This was a gift for a "mature" three-and-a-half-year-old boy with a very active imagination and a passionate enthusiasm for all things pirate. He loves pirate adventure books and already had many of these stories in his head before receiving this Playmobil set.

The set includes enough accouterments to keep this young child entertained for a relatively long time. Some of the smaller, "precious" pieces of the set have allowed him to grow into a more conscientious toy owner, as he actually takes the time to put away these parts safely.

I look forward to adding to his collection with other Playmobil sets. I hope that his love for the pirate theme lasts a few more years, when I think the more intricate Playmobil Pirate Ship will be better age appropriate.

...down comes dear old Santa Claus! "Playmobil - Santa and Reindeer" is a perfect, inexpensive Christmas decoration and a fine toy as well. The set comes with Santa, four identicle Reindeer and a little angel, along with all of the accessories that you would expect from Playmobil. Presents, a trumpet and a wand for the angel all pack nicely into Santa's big sleigh, ready to deliver holiday cheer.

Like all Playmobil products, "Santa and Reindeer" are acceptable for both play and display. They are a happy addition to my seasonal collection.

I belive that this set is great for begginers! I could only collect this set and be content. With a mounted knight, a man with a sword, and a man with a crossbow, this set misses no detail! The armor is so cool! It comes off peice by peice, put holds on to the body well. You could have a quest with these guys. Here's how: give each character a name, and a personality. Hve them on a quest for something shiny. If you don't have playmobil gold, use a penny. Try to find a dragon to slay, too. Have the group journy across the house and have adventures!
